Guillermo Parra is an audiovisual translator and teacher in the Translation and Language Sciences Department at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona. He teaches Translation and the Media, for which he received the UPF Social Council Award for Teaching Quality in 2015. Guillermo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Translation and Interpreting, a Master’s Degree in Translation Studies, and a PhD in Translation and Language Sciences. In his 13 years of translation experience, he has subtitled more than 300 films and TV series into Castilian Spanish and Catalan, and has been nominated for the ATRAE awards on seven occasions. Since 2020, he also co-hosts the podcast “En sincronía,” the first Spanish-speaking podcast devoted exclusively to AVT.

Estibaliz Cabañes is Basque, but she studied a bachelor’s degree in Translation, Interpreting, and Applied Languages at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya; a master’s degree in Audiovisual Translation at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona; and a professional course in Adaptation and Adjusting for Dubbing Scripts at Escuela de Doblaje de Barcelona, so she already feels half Catalan. She has also been a regular translator at the Americana Film Fest, held in Barcelona, for the past four years.

She was so convinced that her passion lay in audiovisual translation that she always combined her studies with specialized courses in different areas of this field. She also read and listened to any article and podcast related to audiovisual translation, and even became a member of ATRAE before completing her degree.

She loves all kinds of movies, except Marvel films, but she has a soft spot for the horror genre. She is also an avid reader, and her favourite author is, of course, Stephen King.
